Our benefice service this Sunday at St Andrew’s at 10:30am is a special Songs of Praise service It is good to sing together. It cheers the soul to be thankful and be united in praise. The organist and choirs from Streatley and Goring will be there to help raise the roof.

Prayers for this week
Thank you to Geoffrey for this week’s prayers. Thank you, Lord, for the blessings of life. How can anyone doubt you as we survey the vast complexity of our world with new discoveries still being made? Thank you for life and love and all the goodness that exists in humanity; for our daily bread and for your continued acceptance of us in spite of our sins and shortcomings. May we never cease to give you glory and praise at all times and in all places. Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for your church, that you will sustain it in this world where there is so much unbelief and indifference. We pray for the church world-wide, our witness and missionary life, beset with difficulties in this modern age. We pray for those lands where Christians suffer persecution and discrimination and ask that you will protect your people and turn again all those whose hearts follow evil. Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for our Nation; for our brethren suffering with the effects of price inflation and mortgage and rental costs. Guide our government, national and local facing many difficulties in their efforts to control inflation, support the needy in this and other lands and deal with the migrant crisis on our shores. Give them wisdom and courage. Lord, hear our prayer. We remember the people of many nations where there is conflict; for an end to the war in Ukraine and for a change of heart in Russia away from the desire for conquest. In the world we pray for an end to terrorism and oppression. We look to the holy lands of Israel and Palestine and pray for a just settlement of the conflict there that Arabs and Jews may at last live in peace. We also pray for all affected by the current hot weather in Europe and for all efforts to limit global warming. Lord, hear our prayer. We commend to you our community here and all who live and work among us. For all who work for the public good and the promotion of love and fellowship in our various activities. We ask for your blessing on all their efforts. We also commend our medical services throughout the land suffering great pressure and unrest. We pray for peace in their ranks and fair treatment for all their workers and indeed all workers pressing their cases at this time. Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for the sick and suffering among us, especially those we remember each week in our newsletter. We acknowledge that many troubles arise from causes other than ill health and we pray that we may always be good neighbours, alert to the needs of others. We remember those who have died recently and our own departed loved ones. May they rest in your eternal glory and may your comfort be with those who mourn. Lord, hear our prayer. Heavenly Father, receive these our prayers offered in the name of Jesus Christ.
