Sunflowers

We thank God that the heat did not last any longer, or else...
but what can we learn from this?

What might God be saying?

Like sunflowers may we turn to our source of real light..

The Collect

The prayer for the week

Merciful God,
you have prepared for those who love you
such good things as pass our understanding:
pour into our hearts such love toward you
that we, loving you in all things and above all things,
may obtain your promises,
which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

All together now…!

It will be our benefice service 10.30am at St Andrew’s, South Stoke.
We hope everyone will come and be together.
Can you offer a lift to those who normally walk to church?
Could you pass by St Mary’s or St Thomas’ at 10.15am to pick up anyone who is at the end of the road/path?
Please let Ben or the Benefice office know.

Not a week off but a party!
There will be refreshing bubbles after the Benefice service next Sunday.
Bring your own glass! (New eco idea/policy.)
Ben and Sarah will be staying on to picnic with anyone else who can stay for a bring and share picnic after the service at St Andrew’s.
Bring your own supplies and at least a glass if you can only stay for a refreshing drink. All welcome!

Care for Creation

CareForCreationOur small group is hoping to draw together a day in the Rectory Gardens bringing together everyone’s concerns and ideas as to how we can respond better. This will be part of the national Great Big Green Week at the end of September.

We are meeting this Monday, 25 July, at the Vicarage from 6-7pm to see what we can do. You are welcome to join us to help plan.

New Screen

We give thanks for the new screen in the Canterbury Room which has transformed the Pick a Flick experience. This opens up to us many possibilities for our churches and community. Please get your creative hats on.

CMS liaison volunteers

We are looking for a volunteer(s) who would like to act as the point of contact between Steve and Lindsay, our CMS Mission Partners. Mary carries out this role for St Mary's in Streatley and would be happy to chat if you are interested to know more.

The role is not onerous or time-consuming but is valuable in keeping the church family up to date with the work being done with street kids in Honduras so that we can maintain our support and connection. If you are interested in this role, please contact Ben or the church office. Thank you.

Ride and Stride

Ride-and-StrideReminder: This year’s Ride and Stride in aid of Berkshire and Oxford Historic Churches Trusts will take place on Saturday 10th September.
Please see https://ohct.org.uk/ride-and-stride/ or http://www.berkschurchestrust.org.uk/ride-and-stride-2/ for more information.

Piano Recital last Sunday in St Thomas'

The show goes on…

In spite of the heat Janet turned out and pulled out treasures from her repertoire. Her skill and musicality poured out to cool and refresh the audience. Chopin, Poulenc and many more and an encore, which she performed on the BBC age 12, gave a final flourish. Keep on carrying on we all cheered. Thank you Janet. Thank you God.
The recital raised over £300 towards our organ rebuild and musical outreach project.
